By launching your own podcast show and releasing a targeted, interesting, quality, value-adding episode each week or so, you will soon become a person of influence in your field/niche.
Your “community” of listeners will start to grow and grow.
In fact, it will grow exponentially because not only will your regular/loyal subscribers come back and listen to each and every podcast you deliver, but others will find you for the first time in iTunes and be able to enjoy your back catalogue of shows too.
So your community will grow in two ways.
How do you brand your podcast show to your community?
By being unique!
If you are identifiable from all other podcast shows, people will remember you.
If your community identifies with your style and brand, they will come back over and over, and talk about you everywhere they go.
To be unique you just need to be yourself.
Do what you want to do, combined with what your listeners want to learn and hear more about.
Maybe that is your humour, maybe it is your technical knowledge, maybe your political views!
It is simply something that makes you desirable to be heard.
By being entertaining!
If you can combine your knowledge, and be entertaining at the same time, you will have a popular podcast show on your hands, because these are the two highest desired factors from podcasters.
By being consistent!
People need to know what they are going to be in for if you want to them to subscribe to your podcast. Try to give them something they can expect and rely on so they want to come back and hear more.
By asking for feedback!
Make sure you offer a way for your listeners to communicate with you, perhaps by utilising one or more of the following methods:
- iTunes reviews
- Blog Comments
- SpeakPipe.com audio recording on your blog/website
- On a forum your recommend
As long as there is a way for people to find and communicate with you what they want to hear, you will get more and more enquiries as time goes by.
